He grew up in Denver, Colorado, and spent weekends and summers at his grandmother's in Breckenridge where he hiked, skied, and explored in the 14,000 foot peaks surrounding the town. This is where he acquired his love of nature and the processes that form the landscape and drive the ecology of different environments. At the age of 20 he moved to Missoula, Montana, and explored the national forests and wilderness areas of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, including Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. This is where he met his wife, Moryka, who suggested they move to a tropical environment, and the Big Island with its incredible diversity seemed ideal. Since arriving in August 2005, Rob has developed a strong knowledge base about Hawaii's land, history, and culture, and presents it with a friendly, understandable attitude and a constant smile on his face. | | Paul Murray, Interpretive Guide and Training Specialist
